A portable radio is a small, lightweight radio that can be placed anywhere around the house, used in your garden, or taken out to the beach or the park.

Portable radios allow you to listen to music when you’re on the move, and you can buy small personal radios which also let you listen to your favourite stations when you’re jogging or working out in the gym.

Most models of portable radio can either be mains or battery-powered, and there are even models available that can be wound-up or solar-powered to save energy.

Some portable radios even allow you to pause and rewind live radio programmes so that you don’t miss anything if you have to answer the door or want to make a cup of coffee.

Most portable radios also have headphone sockets, so you can listen to whatever you like without disturbing anyone else.
